Went to see Dr Leonard Gordon in SF today and the appt went really well.
Bad news: the theoretical 6 weeks to healing time *never* happens unless they operate and install pins. It typically takes over 10 weeks.
Good news: he approves of my homemade splint.
He said that he doesn't there's nothing else like it out there. (e.g. Something that allows typing while completely immobilizing that area of the finger.)
Here are the designs he did show me.
The thing to notice is that the fingertip is always covered by something.
He took a few photos and I told him that I'd email him more information.
It would be great to turn this negative event into something that can help lots of people.
